Oprah Winfrey Partners With Weight Watchers to Inspire Millions On Healthy Living

Oprah Winfrey has bought a 10 percent stake in Weight Watchers for about $43.2 million and is joining the weight management company's board. She has joined together in a groundbreaking partnership to inspire people around the world to lead a healthier and more fulfilling life.As a part of this long-term partnership, Winfrey is making a substantial equity investment in the company and bringing her insight to future products and programs.

"Weight Watchers has given me the tools to begin to make the lasting shift that I and so many of us who are struggling with weight have longed for. I believe in the program so much I decided to invest in the company and partner in its evolution," said Oprah Winfrey.

The media star, who for years has struggled publicly with her weight, will receive options to buy another 5 percent of the company. Besides being a board member and an adviser, she has also joined the weight-loss program and will document her experience.
