According to recent figures, one out of seven Scots is battling depression and is on anti-depressants to alleviate symptoms. There has been an increase in anti-depressant prescription across all age groups and twice as many women are being prescribed with the drug, according to the research.
The report states: "It does not equate to people being treated for depression. This is because many drugs classified as anti-depressants can also used for conditions other than depression. These include but are not restricted to neuropathic pain, post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety disorders."
