Olympus has recently launched the VISERA 4K UHD surgical endoscopy system that uses a Sony Exmor R CMOS image sensor in the camera head.
An endoscopy involves examining the inside of a person's body. The procedure uses an endoscope. An endoscope is a medical device consisting of a long, thin, flexible (or rigid) tube. It has a light and a video camera. It helps see the inside of the patient's body on a screen.
‘The system is considered as one of the first integrated endoscopy systems to deliver 4K resolution and Ultra HD video providing four times more image information than Full HD.’
Olympus has recently launched the VISERA 4K UHD surgical endoscopy system in Europe. According to the company, this is one of the first integrated endoscopy systems on the market to deliver 4K resolution and Ultra HD video providing four times more image information than Full HD.The system uses a Sony Exmor R CMOS image sensor in the camera head. The system was developed jointly by Olympus and Sony. The system uses an extra-low dispersion lens that reduces chromatic aberration. A wide color-gamut improves visibility of delicate tissue.
An endoscopy is often used to confirm a diagnosis when other medical devices, such as an MRI, X-ray, or CT scan are proved inappropriate.
