Offer Healthy Food to Sri Lanka
Offerings of sweets and cakes to Sri Lankan monks have put their health under risk.
A study found that nearly 50% of these people are at high risk of health problems due to regular consumption of food rich in sugar and oil.

This puts the monks at high risk of cardiovascular disease. The study showed that half of the nation’s 40,000 monks are at a great risk of diabetes and heart disease.

Officials have now revealed new guidelines to encourage devotees to donate healthier food.

"Diabetes and other non-communicable diseases among Buddhist monks can be reduced if the faithful follow the new diet guidelines," it said.
