The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for continuation of the 'Nutrition Programme for Adolescent Girls' in 2009-2010 in 51 districts as per existing guidelines till the Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls is approved.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the CCEA, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said here.

The CCEA also approved the releasing of funds as central assistance (100 per cent grant basis) to States/UTs out of the allocated amount of Rs.162.77 crore for the year 2009-2010.
With the implementation of this project, it is expected that the nutritional status of the adolescent girls in the selected districts would improve.
