North Korea Has Many Hair Do’s and Don’ts

North Korea will soon begin to frown upon those who choose to let their hair down, literally.

If not for political achievements, it is certainly for her hair and style of dressing that the first lady of North Korea, Ri Sol-ju will be in the news.

Recently, a campaign has been launched where women will not be allowed to wear their hair as they like, but will have to choose from 18 different officially permitted styles. They cannot style their hair as they wish to.

Men, will also have to conform to this rule and can choose to adopt a style only for the permitted ten different styles. To discourage any form of western influence, North Korea will soon frown upon those who appear to look trendy and get creative with their hair.

The 18 hairstyles which are allowed for women are pretty ordinary with not much variety. The views are pretty conservative and married women should ideally keep their hair short. Single women can afford to wear their hair in fancy ways.

According to Korean authorities, men are required to keep their hair shorter than five centimeters and they must have their hair cut once a fortnight.
