NHS may Soon Allow C-sections by Choice Rather Than for Health Reasons
It may soon be possible for pregnant women in Britain to avail cesarean section on demand if the proposed rule change spurred on by the “too posh to push’’ brigade comes through.
The NHS performs emergency C-sections whenever the situation demands it. Further, women are also allowed to have planned C-sections if there are other health risks for the mother and baby.

But according to the prospective guidelines, slated to take effect soon, pregnant women may be permitted to undergo a cesarean if they so wish it. But this can happen only after a detailed discussion with their mental health experts.

Nearly 10 percent of all U.K. births are planned C-sections while about 15 percent are emergency procedures, NHS statistics reveal.
