The Wellness Community(R) (TWC), an international, non-profit organization dedicated to providing free support and education for all people affected by cancer, today announced release of their newly published book, The Total Cancer Wellness Guide. Released in conjunction with the organization's 25th anniversary and National Cancer Survivors Day, The Total Cancer Wellness Guide uses evidence-based research, first-person testimony, and professional guidance to lend support and offer hope for those who are affected by cancer.

"Over the last 25 years, there have been significant advances in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer," says Mehmet Oz, MD, Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Director of the Cardiovascular Institute at New York Presbyterian Medical Center, and Professor of Surgery at Columbia University. "As a result of learning how to live well with, through, and beyond cancer, fewer people are dying from the disease. We hope to increase patient active decisions with the publication of The Total Cancer Wellness Guide."

The Total Cancer Wellness Guide highlights true stories of inspiration and hope from cancer patients and caregivers around the country, and includes tips, evidence-based research, treatment, and support information. This guide compassionately addresses physical, emotional, social, and practical needs to prepare readers for a wellness regimen that can be incorporated into daily life. It also helps people with cancer and their loved ones stay focused on healing through strength and empowerment.

"We hope that those affected by cancer -- from caregivers to those newly diagnosed or facing end of life -- will use The Total Cancer Wellness Guide as a 'how to' in the management of their disease," says author Kim Thiboldeaux, president and CEO of The Wellness Community. "This book is not just for the cancer patients themselves, but their loved ones as well."
