New York County Executive Honors Indian-Origin Doctor on Indian Independence Day

On the occasion of the 69th Indian Independence Day, Nassau county executive Edward P Mangano hosted a program that was attended by prominent community members and Indian-Americans at the Theodore Roosevelt executive and legislative building.//

Mangano, who called August 15 the "Indian American Day" in the county, was represented by Nassau county legislator Dennis Dunne who presided over the well-attended event. Nassau County Theodore Roosevelt executive and legislative building honored Dr Akshat Jain as a part of the celebration. Dr Akshat Jain was one of the six Indian-American professionals recognized for contribution to the communities of Nassau county. Dr Jain was selected by county executive Mangano for the honor for his local and international work in the areas of lead poisoning, dengue fever and childhood cancers.

Indian-Origin Food Scientist in New Zealand Honored With International Award
The award recognizes individuals whose research has allowed dairy food processors to develop new products and improve the quality, safety, processing of dairy foods.

Dr Jain takes care of children with cancers at the Cohen Children's Medical Center in New Hyde Park and also teaches at the Hofstra medical school. He also serves as the advisor to Harvard University, American Cancer Society and American Academy of Pediatrics. His academic work covers cases of children with lead poisoning, dengue fever and childhood cancers.
