New IPhone Update Helps Save Lives by Donating Organs
The new version of software for iPhones will include an easy way for Americans to become organ donors.
In collaboration with Donate Live America, iPhone Health App will allow its users to donate eyes, organs or tissues after the release of mobile operating system iOS 10 later this year.

iPhone users will be able to sign up on a National Donate Life Registry managed by the nonprofit organization in just a few taps.

“This is a huge step forward that will ultimately help save lives,” said Donate Life America chief executive David Fleming.

One person dies an hour in the US waiting for an organ transplant because the demand far exceeds supply.

According to Donate Life America, more than 120,000 people in the U.S. are waiting for lifesaving transplants. A new name is added to the list every 10 minutes.

“With the updated Health app, we’re providing education and awareness about organ donation and making it easier than ever to register,” Apple chief operating officer Jeff Williams said in a joint release.
