According to Mashable, the app calculates an "addiction score" based on the metrics of how often the user unlocks the phone and spends time in making calls, and will send reminders suggesting you slow down when your use is on the rise.
It further adds that Breakfree is free to download but users will have to pay 1.99 dollars to gain access to an upgraded version of the app that includes calculation of the how much the user spends with his phone and individual apps.
