NASA to Work on Making Nasal Spray to Combat Motion Sickness
US Space agency NASA has revealed that it has signed a deal with a California based startup company to develop and market a nasal spray that can combat motion sickness.
NASA said that it will be working with Epiomed Therapeutics of Irvine, California, to develop its fast-acting medicine called intranasal scopolamine, or INSCOP, that can treat motion sickness. Around half of the astronauts who fly to space have motion sickness and suffer from various symptoms such as nausea and lightheadedness. The drug can be used both as a nasal spray and in a tablet form.

“NASA and Epiomed will work closely together on further development of INSCOP to optimize therapeutic efficiency for both acute and chronic treatment of motion sickness”, NASA’s Lakshmi Putcha said.
