"We are trying our best to control rabies," said Dr David and sought a collaborative effort of the people to contain rabies. As per the 2012 census, the state registered 1,13,021 dogs.

Dr I P Khala, Registrar, Nagaland State Veterinary Council, said the objective of observing World Rabies Day was to control and contain rabies.

Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) superintendent Zakiekhotuo Kiso said, “KMC would soon initiate registration of all dogs for the first time in Kohima and appealed the panchayats and veterinary and animal husbandry department to extend necessary support towards the success of the process. Training and seminars on rabies would also be initiated by KMC, where two persons from each ward would be trained.”
