Swine flu panic has well and truly gripped the country with most people hitting on to the web on Google to find out more on the N95 masks.

The Centre for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organisation (WHO) had said in 2003 that the N95 masks offered protection against the bird flu virus when it was at its peak.

A Google India spokesperson confirmed that the most searched item on Google India was N95 mask as people gear up to protect themselves against the H1N1 swine flu virus.

Apollo Pharmacy chief operating officer C Sreethar also revealed that the demand for the masks had shot up recently, “Previously, the demand was more for surgical masks, but with growing awareness that the N95 is best suited to prevent H1N1 virus, sales have shot up like never before," he added.
