Most Australian Youngsters Prefer Mobile Phone To Landline Connections

by Aruna on Sep 30 2009 11:27 AM

A new survey has claimed that majority of Australians chose mobile phone over their landline connections as their main communication tool.

According to Australian Media and Communications Authority data, 70 per cent of 18-31-year-olds look at their hand set as the primary source of communication.

The Australian Newspaper reported that Telstra has more mobile phone subscribers than fixed line customers.

The profit from fixed lines has been drastically decreasing and is currently at 50-60 per cent.

In fact, a survey conducted last year had revealed that 20 per cent of consumers could not say why they kept their land line.

"The main reason people keep it is for ADSL, not for the phone itself," News.com.au quoted Gary Tsang, industry analyst for telecom market research company Telsyte, as saying.
