More Than 60 Percent of Mums Seek Plastic Surgery to Look Good

Nearly sixty two percent of mothers wish they could undergo plastic surgery to look beautiful like they did before they had children, a survey has revealed. The research also found that the age of women seeking "mommy makeovers" - tummy tucks, breast enlargements, liposuction and breast-lifts - is much lower than a decade ago.

"I see many more women in their 30s and 40s," the New York Post quoted Dr. Matthew Schulman, assistant professor of plastic surgery at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan, as saying.

"This type of surgery has become much more accepted and mainstream."

Instead of putting it off until their 50s and 60s, many of Schulman's clients consult him about a year after they've added to their family.

"The weight gain associated with pregnancy, the loosening of the skin and stretch marks, are a major concern for them," he says. "Hormonal changes, especially after a second child, can take their toll on the body.

"Breasts deflate, weight settles on the hips, and thighs and stretched stomach muscles won't snap back through exercise," he added.

The package of correctional procedures, which can take up to five hours to perform, cost an average of 20,000 dollars, depending on the amount of surgery.
