More Than 100,000 Gmail Users Lose Emails and Settings
Google has said that following an unexplained fault, more than 100,000 Gmail webmail service users have reportedly lost all their e-mails and some of their settings. While features like contacts and documents remained unaffected, users reported that they had lost folders, themes and labels.
Google has stated, "This issue affects less than 0.08% of the Google Mail userbase. Google engineers are working to restore full access. Affected users may be temporarily unable to sign in while we repair their accounts."

Reportedly Gmail has over 150 million users worldwide. Such an incident makes it clear that even cloud computing might not keep our data reliably safe and sound.
