"We have received 4500 kits, 6400 N95 masks, sodium hypo chloride 295 tins of five litres capacity and formalin 311 tins of five litres capacity, sodium hydroxide 200 bottles of 500 gm and some other rectified spirits, they have supplied 1000 bottles. In this way, many things have been sent by the Centre," said Singh.

Health workers in protective gear conducted the second phase of mop up operations at four farms in the city, with officials checking people in the same area for symptoms of H5N1 strain of bird flu, and culling all birds.

Nearly 400,000 birds have been culled till date after detection of the avian flu.

According the State Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, 163 cases of respiratory diseases have been recorded since the outbreak last week, but they were not related to the H5N1 strain of bird flu.

Manipur neighbours Myanmar, which has battled several outbreaks of bird flu in chickens this year, including one reported last week.

The Centre has already alerted neighbouring Mizoram to check illegal smuggling of hens from across Myanmar where incidents of bird flu outbreak have occurred very often.

Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh share borders with Myanmar.

The Centre has said that there were no suspected human cases of bird flu and the situation in Chingmeirong village in Manipur, where the outbreak of the bird flu was confirmed on July 25, is now completely under control.
