Mom-To-Be Attracts Heavy Criticism for Fruit and Vegetable Diet
A 25-year old Australian mother-to-be is attracting plenty of criticism on the net after she revealed that she is following a strict raw fruit and vegetable diet even though her stance has been backed by the Australian Medical Association.
Loni Jane Anthony spoke to News.com.au where she said that she is following a 80:10:10 diet, consisting of 80 percent carbs, 10 percent protein and 10 percent fat, and revealed that she eats around 10 bananas for breakfast. Her diet has been quickly dismissed by critics who called her narcissistic and irresponsible and said that it would be harming the baby by depriving it of necessary nutrients.

Loni Jane though has dismissed the criticism, claiming that people do not have any knowledge about their diets and don’t want to move away from ice-cream or greasy McDonalds. She has received support from AMA federal president Steve Hambleton who said that Loni Jane seems to ‘tick all the boxes’.

“It sounds like broadly the diet she's consuming is not inappropriate, in a sense that you can eat a variety of things in a variety of ways. So long as you're getting a broad variety of nutrients, and fruit and vegetables are very good for that. We do have to take special precautions about iron, particularly if you're vegan, but it's not impossible (to get enough iron). And getting good medical advice and appropriate attention ticks all the boxes. She's working with a medical practitioner to make sure she's properly nourished”, Hambleton said.
