Moderate Consumption of Fructose Benefits Diabetes Patients
A new study published in the journal Diabetes Care suggests that the adverse health effects associated with fructose may be due to over indulgence and that it was beneficial for people with type 1 and 2 diabetes.
The study was conducted by researchers at St Michael's Hospital in Canada who analyzed data from 18 different trials involving 209 participants who had Type I and Type II diabetes and found that fructose helped them gain a better control on their blood sugar levels with the improvement similar to taking an oral anti-diabetic drug.

“Attention needs to go back where it belongs, which is on the concept of moderation. We’re seeing that there may be benefit if fructose wasn’t being consumed in such large amounts. All negative attention on fructose-related harm draws further away from the issue of eating too many calories”, lead author of the study, Adrian Cozma said.
