Actress Mischa Burton was arrested and jailed for seven hours on Dec 27 for driving under the influence and possessing drugs.
The 21-year-old actress, who was also accused of driving without a valid licence, was pulled over at the corner of La Cienega and Santa Monica boulevards in Los Angeles.According to L.A. County Sheriff's Department, the actress’ vehicle was straddling two lanes of traffic and she failed to signal before making a left turn.
"During Ms. Barton's detention, it was determined that she was an unlicensed driver and was driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage," E! Online quoted the department, as saying.
Police also said that the former ‘O.C.’ star was also in possession of marijuana and a controlled substance.
"The controlled substance has not yet been identified and was still under investigation," Sergeant John Hocking said.
According to the department's statement, Barton was arrested and transported to West Hollywood Sheriff's station, ‘where the booking process was completed without incident.’
