On the lines of Wikipedia, the medical fraternity is planning to release MedPedia, a site that aims to offer online collaborative medical encyclopedia for use by the general public.

This project promises to be a huge success as famous universities like Harvard Medical School,Stanford School of Medicine, UC Berkeley School of Public Health, and University of Michigan Medical School associated with it.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) are also supporting the project.

MedPedia was founded by James Currier, who is known for his Ooga Labs. MedPedia is currently in closed beta and will probably open up late in 2008.
