Dr. Motilal, director of health services, government of Manipur, has called on the media to play a responsible role in the process of disease control.

At a one-day advocacy meeting for media personnel on the prevention and control of vector borne diseases, Dr Motilal said the media must keep a constant watch as it could play a pivotal role in prevention and containment of epidemics like the swine flu.

Dr. NI Singh, the regional director in-charge of the ROH and FW, government of India, revealed that many lethal diseases had some common symptoms in the initial stage and as such it was necessary to give patients the proper medication to treat the disease in question.

He also elaborated on the preventive measures for control of malaria in the state and said DDT had been sprayed in vulnerable areas and that dissolved bed nets would be distributed to poor people to help prevent the disease.
