Many Doctors Do Not Know How to Hold a Baby

A report into children's services has revealed that many doctors are unaware of how to hold babies.

Prof Sir Ian Kennedy, the former chair of the Healthcare Commission, who led the report, has recommended that all GPs and nurses must receive additional training in pediatrics.

The report was commissioned in 2007 after several high-profile mishaps involving kids including the death of "Baby P", whose name was later revealed as Peter Connelly.

"There needs to be an identification of the money that should be allocated to children from the total pot. Currently children do not get a look-in because the needs of adults simply trump the needs of children," Sir Ian said in the report.

The report also called for urgent institution of training for comprehensive care of children and young people
