Many Believe Diabetes is Caused by Sugar Tooth
Even though diabetes is becoming one of the fastest spreading diseases, more than half of the population is Britain falsely believe that it is caused solely by eating too much sugar.

A new survey carried out by the charity organization, Diabetes UK polled more than 2,000 adults in UK and found that more than 42 percent believe that the main cause of the disease is by eating sugar and the myth is being used by youngsters to bully their classmates.

Speaking out on the ignorance, Diabetes UK's Simon O'Neill said that the organization often hears complaints that children are being bullied and humiliated in school because of the widespread myth.

"We often hear of children who are bullied at school because others believe they've brought their diabetes on themselves from eating too many sweets. Diabetes UK is appalled that some people object to injecting in public. For people who treat their diabetes with insulin, this is not a choice - insulin keeps them alive and injections have to be administered at specific times", he added.
