Man Dies of Swine Flu Two Days After Check Up
Doctors in BMC-run Kasturba Hospital investigated the case of a 35-year-old man from Mumbra and reported no suspection of swine flu. The man had visited the outpatient department with symptoms like cold and body ache.
One of his family //members said, "The doctor on duty however did not suspect swine flu. He went home without any medicines as the doctor thought it was not necessary."

Two days later, the man was rushed back to Kasturba Hospital and was started on Tamiflu after immediate admission. Doctors at the hospital had a tough time in intubations before he was put on ventilator as the man developed severe breathing difficulty.

A senior doctor from the hospital said that the patient did not have classic H1N1 symptoms like high grade fever, runny nose, and was thereby not suspected of the infection. "He was however advised to follow up with a local physician," the doctor said.

Dr. Om Srivastava, Infectious disease consultant said that the virus was progressing aggressively in some patients, who are seemingly healthy. "It is worrisome. It is therefore important to arrest the symptoms and initiate treatment at the earliest," he said, adding that even healthy patients can rapidly go downhill.

Dr. Harshdeep Kamble, FDA commissioner said, "We have uploaded a district wise list of these stores on the FDA website. People can also call 1800222365 for any information on availability of drugs."

The state food and drug administration compiled a list of chemists and distributors to sell anti-flu medicines according to the schedule X authorization. The city recorded 42 more cases and took the count of positive cases to 348.
