Veteran mid-fielder Luis Figo of Inter Milan is due to undergo surgery for a fractured fibula suffered during his club's 1-1 draw with Juventus in the Serie A clash Sunday in Turin.

Defending Serie A champions Inter are already without the services of defender Marco Materazzi and mid-fielders Patrick Vieira and Dejan Stankovic, all out with injuries.

Figo, who celebrated his 35th birthday Sunday, broke his leg in a clash with Juventus' Pavel Nedved.

"Luis Figo underwent a series of medical tests to determine the extent of the injury which forced him out of the match against Juventus," said Inter in a statement.

"He will have an operation to stabilise the fracture," the statement confirmed without saying how long the former Portugal international will be away from the game.
