‘Mean Girls’ actress Lindsay Lohan’s father, Michael, believes now that his daughter has checked into rehab, she has a chance to change her life completely.

Lohan is currently receiving treatment for her alcohol abuse at Promises Treatment Center in Malibu.

Michael believes that Lohan can change her life if she stays away from people with negative influence.

"I'm glad she's there and trying to get help. I hope she stays away from Samantha Ronson and all the people who have been negative influences," US magazine quoted him as saying.

"That includes the bodyguard, the assistants.... Lindsay needs to clean house. She needs to get God back in her life and put her family in her life. She's gotta start all over again from where she started when she was at her best," he added.

Michael revealed that no one from Lindsay’s camp, including his ex-wife Diana, called him after the news about his daughter’s checking into rehab broke.

"No. There was speculation, but I haven't heard from Dina. I'm still trying to arrange a sit down. I've put the past behind me," he said.

He further said that the biggest problem was that the family was not ready to understand that he could help bring Lohan’s life back on tracks.

"They're afraid of my relationship with Lindsay. You see, this is the problem. Unless they start [including me], Lindsay is never going to get better," he said.
