Lincoln Pharmaceuticals Secures Patent for Malaria Treatment

Ahmedabad-based Lincoln Pharmaceuticals has been awarded a patent for 'An Arteether Injection for Treatment of Malaria' by Government of India for Antimalaria Drug.

The drug is painless and gives faster relief to the patients, Lincoln Pharma said. The company expects significant rise in the revenue from exports to Africa after the introduction of this injection in the African market.

This new Arteether Injection developed by the Company is available in 1ml only. Due to this new innovation, patients will get faster relief and painless. The results of this new Arteether Injection are far better than the other existing dosages form available in the market.

The company has received Patent No 258915 for the invention, it said. Lincoln Pharma said the invention will help it increase its presence in Africa, already a big market for the company.

"With the introduction of this injection in African countries, where total anti-malarial market is Rs 586 crore, the company expects to increase revenue from Africa by Rs 35-40 crore," it added.

The majority of African countries use similar injections to control malaria. The total anti-malarial market in African Countries are estimated Rs 586 crore, said the company.
