Levels of Radioactive Cesium Found to be High in Pacific Waters Under Fukushima Plant
Tokyo Electric Power Co. has found high levels of radioactive cesium in water samples taken from reactor 2 of the disaster hit Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant.
The Japan Times reports that sampling was done at 1, 7 and 13 meters and the levels of radioactive substances is increasing going further deep into the ocean.

Tepco has found that water in a hole, dug for a cable pipe 13 meters underground, contained up to 950 million becquerels of cesium per liter and 520 million becquerels of beta ray-emitting radioactive substances, including strontium.

According to the report, this water was among the first contaminated in the early stages of the March 2011 nuclear meltdowns.
