Lethal Mosquito Virus Doing Its Rounds in Australia
Three people died of Murray Valley Encephalitis in 2011. Nearly 16 cases were reported in the same year. No cases were reported in 2010.

According the report's author, Dr Jack Richards, the virus is prevalent in Northern Australia yet last year cases have been reported in South-Eastern Australia as well.

The virus which causes brain inflammation results in death in 15 to 30 per cent of cases. Sadly, there is no vaccine as yet to prevent the illness, which  has no cure.
