LEGOs Components Enable Kids To Build Their Own Creative Prosthetic Arm
A team of scientists at Umea University in Sweden decided to let kids who use prosthetic arms to build different tools and add-ons for their prostheses.
IKO is a creative prosthetic system designed for children to explore and empower their creativity in a playful, social and friendly way.

The prosthetic system integrates the technology with LEGO components. The reason being, LEGOs have the amazing ability to capture kids’ imaginations and to join together fantasy and reality in fun and exciting ways.

The arm functions very similar to traditional prosthetics, but it features a twist-and-lock modular design that’s easy for kids to assemble. And with a special motorized adapter, its standard three-finger gripper can be swapped out for one made entirely of Lego.
