Cases of 'honour killings' have been on the rise in Lahore, the capital of Punjab in Pakistan, the latest victim being a woman stabbed to death by her son and brother over suspicions

Later, when Arshad and Riaz reached the police station with a sharp-edged weapon and confessed to the murder, police reached the spot immediately and took the body to the city mortuary for autopsy, and registered a murder case against both the arrested on the complaint of the deceased's husband Muhammad Aslam.
Aslam, who originally belonged to Bahawalpur, and had shifted to Lahore with his family a few years ago and was working as a security guard in a factory in Sialkot.
In another incident in the provincial capital, a young woman who had eloped with her former husband after a second marriage was gunned down by her younger brother.
Similarly, on August 25, a man strangled and killed his 22-year-old married daughter- Amna- in the name of 'honour' when came to know about her extra-marital relations with a local boy Azhar.
