Lack of Access Triggering DIY Dentistry in Oz
Many people in Australia are resorting to do-it-yourself dentistry because of lack of access to public health services. This is a sad state of affairs as some patients may have to wait years before getting an appointment.

Australian Dental Prosthetists Association vice-president Bruce Menzies says that the delays in public dental services are leading to problems that are having to be dealt by private dentists. Most people attempt to fill their own teeth and sometimes even pull them out.

Australian Dental Association chief executive Robert Boyd-Bolan agreed that DIY dentistry meant the public services had failed to provide the required treatments.

"It does happen, there's no hiding from that," he said. "It's just indicative of the extremely low priority that dental health is given by some of the state governments."
