Kerala Doctor Who Sustained Injuries in the Nepal Earthquake to be Taken to Delhi
Dr. Abin Suri, whose kidney functions have been affected due to the injuries sustained in the Nepal earthquake, continued to battle acute renal problems at the Tribuvan University Teaching Hospital on April 27.
Dr. Suri is a native of Vadakara, a town in the Kozhikode district, state of Kerala, India.

The delay in air-lifting him from Nepal to New Delhi forced the hospital authorities to conduct emergency dialysis on him on the day. Kerala Minister K.C. Joseph said that he would be brought to New Delhi on Tuesday.

Though external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj had ordered the evacuation of Dr. Suri on priority basis following the request of a delegation of state MPs led by minister Joseph, his shifting was held up due to issues in operating flights out of the Kathmandu airport.

Dr. Suri’s brother Ajun, said that Abin Suri has developed renal problems as proteins from his damaged muscle tissue has entered the blood stream and is getting deposited in the kidneys. "He needs expert medical care immediately and has to be shifted to India without any further delay. His friends at AIIMS, New Delhi have already made arrangements for his further treatment," he said. Dr. Suri’s relatives, meanwhile, have left Kerala for New Delhi on Monday.
