Johnson & Johnson`s Drug to be Recommended for Rheumatoid Arthritis as Well
After recommending Johnson & Johnson's drug Simponi as a treatment for psoriatic arthritis, Britains premier health agency, National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) on Friday said that the drug can also be used to treat rheumatoid arthritis.
NICE had rejected the use of Simponi in treating psoriatic arthritis back in October but reversed its decision back in March after J&J said that they will be offering the drug in 100mg dose as well.

NICE has said that the drug can now be used in combination with methotrexate to treat rheumatoid arthritis in adults but only when the patient does not respond to the conventional anti-rheumatic drugs.

However the health agency added that J&J should offer 100mg doses of the drug for the same price of 50mg if it wants the drug to be paid for by Britain's state health service.
