Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo Unsafe

Johnson's baby shampoo is not considered to be safe by an international coalition of health and environmental groups as it contains 2 chemicals- 1,4-dioxane and quaternium-15 which are harmful for babies. These chemicals can produce formaldehyde, a cancer causing substance. Repeated exposure to these chemicals increases the risk of developing allergic skin reactions. This report is based on an examination of label ingredients for Johnson & Johnson baby products in 13 countries. Therefore the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is urging consumers to boycott the shampoo. In a statement by Johnson & Johnson it has been said that formaldehyde-releasing preservatives (quanternium-15) are safe and approved by regulators in the U.S. and other countries, but they are gradually phasing the chemicals out of its baby products. They also said that the company is reformulating baby products to reduce the level of dioxane below detectable levels. However it did not clarify whether it would respond to or meet the campaign's full demands.
