Japanese Firm Introduces Glasses That Block Blue Light to Ease Digital Eye Strain
People feel that checking email, watching TV late-night, texting in bed are harmless. But the light emitting devices in computers, laptops, mobile phones emit artificial blue light which is the main cause of sleep disruption. Furthermore, recent findings have shown that nearly 70% of U.S. adults aged 18-34 experience eye strain due to the prolonged use of electronic devices.
JINS eyewear a Japanese company has announced to release a new form of functional eyewear called JINS screen. It is designed to combat the effects of blue light from prolonged use of digital devices by filtering blue light and helping ease digital eye strain.

"Our goal is to improve people's lifestyles with glasses, by making them less about vision correction and more about changing the way people perceive the world around them. That is why we continue to introduce new functional eyewear like JINS SCREEN,"  "I hope that these innovations are only the beginning for eyewear. We're so excited to be able to change the course of the industry and can't wait to see what happens next," said Hitoshi Tanaka, CEO of Jin Co., Ltd.

Jins screen lenses absorb most of the blue light and reduce the eye strain by reflecting lights with wavelengths around 460nm. The blue light is in the range of 390 nm. The special coating material on the lenses is responsible for blocking blue light from reaching the eyes. It shows 25% reduction in the frequency of light reaching the eyes. JINS lenses also reduce eye fatigue.

JINS lenses will be available soon in the US markets. The blue light blocking screens can be purchased as an add-on to the company’s lenses.
