Britney Spears has been offered advice on motherhood by Shar Jackson, the pop diva's one-time rival.

Jackson cannot comprehend Spears wanting to party more than spend time with her kids and is not surprised that she has been denied custody of her two sons. The boys now live with their father, contactmusic.com reports.

She said: "I personally think, as a mother, (you should) spend more time with your babies... Get to know your kids. It should be a want and a need. I go crazy when I'm away from my kids."

Jackson was pregnant with Kevin Federline's child when he left her for Spears.
