Intensity of Hot Flushes Influences Memory Loss After Menopause
A new study published in the journal Menopause reveals that women do suffer from memory loss after menopause and those who have the most hot flushes were the most likely to experience memory problems.
The study was conducted by researchers at University of Illinois and Northwestern University who recruited around 68 women between 44 and 62 years of age and each of whom experienced at least 35 hot flushes a week.

The researchers tested the women on their recollection and attention and also asked them to complete questionnaires about their menopause symptoms, mood and memory.

The researchers found that women who experienced the most number of hot flushes performed the worst in memory tests and the severity of the hot flushes was also linked with the length of the period of memory loss.
