Instructional DVD to Teach Yoga to Babies Launched

by VR Sreeraman on Sep 3 2007 4:50 PM

An instructional DVD named Itsy Bitsy Yoga has been made to introduce babies to yoga routines.

The DVD, produced by a yoga enthusiast, Helen Garabedian and sponsored by Abbott, teaches babies to learn to stretch, roll and crawl, while teaching mothers to understand their babies' physical development and abilities through a better approach.

A research reveals that having a baby encourages paying attention to health and nutrition issues.

This was also evident from the survey conducted by fitness providers that discovered 40 percent increase in demand for parent-baby fitness.

Garabedian, a Hatha Yoga teacher, infant massage instructor, and one of the first professionals to be certified as an infant developmental movement educator, said that the DVD was fulfilling a need of young mothers to share a healthy lifestyle with their babies.

"New moms really want to share a healthy lifestyle with their babies," Environmental News Network quoted Garabedian, as saying.

"A healthy diet, combined with physical activity, is important for both mom and baby to grow strong," she added.
