Indian President Greets Women on International Women's Day Eve

President Pratibha Devisingh Patil greeted the women across the country on the eve of International Women's Day and conveyed her best wishes to them for their continued success.

In her message, President Patil said: "Every year, we celebrate International Women's Day on March 8 to recognize the commitment, dedication and achievements of women.

International Women's Day 2011: 'Equal Access to Education, Training and Science & Technology: Pathway to Decent Work for Women'
“Equal access to education, training and science & technology” is the theme for International Women's Day 2011.

"Indian women are playing a crucial role in a number of fields and professions over the years, as our nation progresses on the path of development, and they play an important role in our efforts for inclusive growth," he added

She said the education of women and the girl child is a very important tool for this effort, so that they can contribute towards development.

"On this occasion, I have great pleasure in extending my greetings and best wishes to the women of India for their continued success," she added.
