Indian Health Ministry Organizes Screening Camp in Delhi to Mark ‘World Health Day’

Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare organized a health screening camp in Delhi to mark 'World Health Day 2015' on April 7. Union Health Secretary B.P. Sharma inaugurated the camp.

Speaking on the occasion, and highlighting the theme of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the health day - 'From Farm to Plate- Make Food Safe', Sharma said that the Ministry has taken several measures to ensure safety of food products. He stressed on people adopting healthy daily habits and a regular regime of exercise for a healthy life.

Hundreds of officers and staff from various ministries and departments housed in Nirman Bhawan and nearby offices attended the camp. More than 450 people registered for Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) including 150 women and 300 men. About 1,600 people came to test for blood sugar, blood pressure, height and weight for Body Mass Index (BMI).

Such health camps are regularly held by the Ministry to create awareness regarding health issues and to encourage build up of a health seeking behavior in people.

C K Mishra, additional secretary and director National Health Mission, Dr. Arun K. Panda, additional secretary health, senior officers and ministers were also present.
