India Tops the List of
India had the most selfie-related deaths of any country by far. In a report, 'Me, Myself and My Killfie: Characterising and Preventing Selfie Deaths', Carnegie Mellon University in the US and Indraprastha Institute of Information Delhi analysed the number of deaths attributed to risky selfie taking.//
The most common cause of selfie-related deaths was "falling off a building or mountain" (responsible for 29 deaths), followed by being hit by a train (responsible for 11 deaths).

"This trend caters to the belief that posting on or next to train tracks with their best friend is regarded as romantic and a sign of never- ending friendship," the study found.

They found that of the 127 reported selfie deaths between March 2014 and September, "a whopping 76 deaths occurred in India alone." Pakistan followed with nine deaths, the US had eight and Russia had six.

Australia, along with Romania, Mexico, South Africa, Italy, Serbia, Chile, Nepal and Hong Kong had only one selfie-related death.

Most Indian deaths were water-related. Researchers analysed thousands of selfies posted on Twitter and found, unsurprisingly, that men engaged in far more dangerous and risky selfies than women. It also found that most selfie daredevils were under the age of 24.
