 Increase in Cigarette Price from New Year

In a bid to discourage Kiwis from smoking, the price of tobacco will go up from New Year's Day.

Earlier initiatives such as these saw a 93% increase in smokers signing up for Quitline services.

The cost will increase by 14.6% on January 1 2012 for a standard 20-pack of cigarettes.
