In Pakistan Hospital Rats Bite Twin Babies
Media reports said that newborn twins in a hospital in Pakistan's Rawalpindi city have been badly bitten by rats.
The babies were just a day old when they were bitten at the gynaecology ward of the Holy Family hospital Monday, Geo News reported. The rats bit the babies on the lips, cheeks, noses and fingers.

Medical Superintendent Fayyazul Hassan confirmed the incident, but said the babies were shifted to a nursery after treatment and were in "good health".

However, Online news agency reported that one of the babies died.

The twins' mother, Raheela, gave birth at the hospital Sunday and the babies were kept in a nursery. A group of mice attacked the twins around 2 a.m. Monday, and as a result, one of the babies died, Online said.

Sources told the Daily Times that "free movement" and presence of rats and cats in the hospital, especially around the labour room, was a "common scene".

The relatives of the babies protested against the negligence of the hospital administration and demanded that authorities take stern action.
