World should take immediate steps to save the poorest children dying of neglect and failed government policies, well known religious statesman Rajan Zed stated in Nevada (USA) today.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, pointed out that reports suggested that deaths of about four million children from poorest backgrounds in the last ten years could have been prevented.

Something needed to be done urgently as it was a sin to watch the poor children suffer day after day.

Rajan Zed further said that we as world citizens should be ashamed that it was 2011 and there was a huge divide between children from rich and poor families and their access to healthcare. Reports indicated that to meet the prevention of child mortality goals, many governments ended up saving the children from comparatively well-off families while neglecting the poorest of the poor.

Zed argued that world needed to create a strong political will and become serious in tackling mortality rates among poor children. Governments should put poorest and vulnerable children at the center of their policy machines because they had higher needs.

Religions also should not remain silent spectators and should become active partners in helping world's poorest children as religion told us to help the helpless, Rajan Zed stressed.
