A British woman has finally won her battle with the NHS after going on a 6 day hunger strike, demanding better care for her quadriplegic husband. Angela Cavill-Burch of Peterborough claimed that NHS had cut their home care support from 100 hours a week to just 14 hours as she struggled to provide the much needed care for her husband Terence Burch who is suffering from staphylococcus aureus which has left him paralyzed from the neck down.
Mrs Cavill-Burch then went on a 6 day fast stating that she is willing to die in order to force the NHS to provide the necessary care for her husband. After a number of major British media networks highlighted her story, the NHS was forced to do a about turn and agree to provide round-the-clock care along with physiotherapy and Sativex drug in order to ease his pain.
While she is happy that her husband is finally getting the required care, Mrs Cavill-Burch has expressed her disappointment with the NHS claiming that she should not have been forced to take such a dramatic stance.
