 Hospital Ransacked After Swine Flu Patient Dies
Family members of a H1N1 influenza affected patient allegedly ransacked the Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital in Bengaluru soon after the patient was declared dead.
Alla Babe, suffering from swine flu, was admitted at the hospital on February 26. Soon after the patient was declared dead on Saturday morning, the family members of the patient damaged the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) using stones and weapons.

Dr. Marker, Medical Director of the Hospital, said, “They ransacked equipment costing approximately Rs. 40 lakh and furniture within the ICU. They also threatened the ICU staff of dire consequences and terrorized patients on adjacent beds.”

Dr. Marker said, “The patient has been treated on nationally accepted protocol with intensive nursing care in the ICU. In spite of all the best efforts by the doctors and staff of the hospital, the patient passed away in the ICU at 6.30 a.m. in the Saturday morning.”
