Hospital Employees Suspended for Going Public About Clooney’s Accident

by Medindia Content Team on October 11, 2007 at 12:26 PM

40 hospital employees have been suspended without pay for letting slip to the media about George Clooney's motorcycle accident.

The officials of the hospital investigated and found that the staffs, including doctors, at Palisades Medical Center were suspected of breaking confidentiality laws by revealing details of Clooney's condition and medical records.

Clooney and his new girlfriend Sarah Larson were admitted to the hospital following a motorcycle crash by a car on 21 September.

The actor was treated for a rib fracture and grazes, while Larson suffered two broken toes.

Union spokesperson Jean Oterson, who represents some of the hospital workers involved, has revealed that Clooney does not want the workers to pay, but the hospital is overreacting by taking such a harsh step.

"It was inappropriate but they are paying a steep price. But I don't even think George Clooney would want people to pay," Contactmusic quoted Oterson as telling television channel CBS2.

"Again, the apology to him for his privacy rights (is necessary), but I think in fact the hospital is overreacting," Oterson added.
